Vitamin D3 and K2
We need these two vitamins to build and maintain bones and teeth. A deficiency can lead to rickets in children and osteoporosis in adults.
It is important to take vitamin D3 and K2 in combination. Vitamin D3 increases the concentration of calcium in the blood. This calcium must first be broken down by the body, for which it needs vitamin K2.
In addition, with the help of K2, the calcium gets exactly where it belongs: in the bones instead of in the blood vessels. Without sufficient vitamin K2, the calcium would be deposited on the walls of the arteries, thus "calcifying" our vessels.
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is absorbed through food and is formed when the skin is exposed to direct sunlight. It regulates the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the intestines and is therefore important for bones and teeth. It is also important for a strong immune system by activating the white blood cells.
With increasing age the production of vitamin D3 is reduced. This is why a deficiency is more common in older people. A general deficiency occurs mainly during the cold months, when the sun shines little and our skin is covered by clothing.
It is almost impossible to cover the vitamin D3 requirement with food, because you would have to eat a lot of meat and dairy products.
By the way, studies have shown that vitamin D works better when taken together with magnesium.
During menopause and pregnancy, hormonal changes occur which can lead to a deficiency. In addition, the mother's body needs more vitamin D3 during pregnancy and breastfeeding to ensure that the child's bones and teeth are well formed. Vegetarians and vegans should also supplement vitamin D3, as it is mainly found in animal products.
Crohn's disease, liver and kidney disease can block the absorption/formation of vitamin D3. There are also pathogens that weaken our immune system to their advantage by altering vitamin D receptors: Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus, Mycobacteria, Borrelia and Aspergilla. Frequency programs against these pathogens can be found on the page Frequency Chipcards.
Signs of vitamin D3 deficiency
- susceptibility to infections
- brittle fingernails
- twitching eyelids
- joint and back pain
- bone softening/osteoporosis
- poor quality of teeth
- hair loss
Studies on vitamin D3
Regarding the dosage of D3: a large US study with 3,667 test persons proved that the daily dose of 20 µg (800 IU) - recommended by the German Society for Nutrition - is much too low. Adults should take 100-200 µg (4,000-8,000 IU) daily. Even 250 µg are not toxic.
It was also found that the increase in the vitamin D3 level in the blood adjusts to the initial values. This means that with a higher initial level the increase is lower. An overdose is therefore not possible at all.
Taking high doses of vitamin D3 could even reduce the risk of developing breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis and diabetes I. You can find the study at the University of California. By the way, 90% of the 3,667 participants in the study had a vitamin D3 deficiency. Their vitamin D3 levels were even below the public recommendation, which in itself is too low.
Vitamin K2 ensures that the calcium that humans take in is stored in the bones instead of in the vessels that it would "calcify". Vitamin K2 also regulates blood clotting.
Vitamin K2 in its natural form MK-7 is available in the body for days. Artificial K2, on the other hand, is broken down within a few hours. Vitamin K2 is also predominantly found in animal products. Therefore vegetarians/vegans are more often affected by a deficiency.
Signs of a vitamin K2 deficiency:
- rapidly developing bruises
- heavily bleeding wounds (even without taking anticoagulants)
- sensitive teeth, especially tooth necks
